Declaration of the People of the Caribbean Against Donald Trump

Over the weekend, we joined other organisations and movements in declaring the President, of the United States of America, persona non grata.

The Haitian Revolution had set precedence for how the Caribbean should deal with white supremacy.

The Haitian Revolution had set precedence for how the Caribbean should deal with white supremacy.

We stayed away from the weak and ridiculously spineless language of CARICOM, which claimed that Haiti "is the second democracy in the Western hemisphere after the United States" - the United States of America has never been a democracy, and it can never be a democracy.

Inwardly, it is a settler-colonial state, built on the foundations of genocide of indigenous peoples, occupation of indigenous peoples' land, and the enslavement of Black people. Outwardly, it is a hegemonic imperial entity that aims to bully and subordinate other countries while plundering them for their valuable resources. In its entirety, its existence continues to symbolise the strength of white supremacy in the world.

The actions and statements of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are no less vile than the current President. We must remember that Donald Trump is not the sole problem, and that he is merely the blunt face of the evil empire; this is why the declaration clearly states that "We -- the sovereign people of the Caribbean-- hereby declare to the entire world that we vehemently and unreservedly denounce President Donald Trump and the evil and inhuman white supremacy value system that he represents!"
