Policy

From time to time, the movement comes to consensus on important issues. One part of the movement may be concerned with something and then want other parts of the movement to discuss it and come to conclusions as well.

Policy Coordination is the work of identifying issues that the movement is concerned with and actively developing consensus on them. This work is done by the Policy Coordination Committee led by the Secretary of Policy Coordination, and specialised policy committees may be formed to focus on specific areas of policy.

This enables the leadership and the organisation to take official stances and positions with the backing of the base of the movement. These official stances and positions can then be used to engage in policy advocacy.

While policy advocacy is not our main focus, the little that we have done in that area has been impactful and blends with other parts of our work. Consolidation of our views helps to build internal cohesion by defining our movement’s values, and the work of promoting these views helps to build our public image and our relationship with other entities.
